China becomes world leader in supercomputers

China’s Sunway TaihuLight tops world supercomputer ratings

China has overtaken the US for the first time to become the world leader in super computing, with a total of 167 supercomputers in the top 500 fastest supercomputers list. The US stands at a close second with 165 supercomputers. Incidentally, China had no supercomputers in the TOP 500 list in 2001.
